Cinthia and Bianca

Just back from her mission trip to Peru, Bianca was back at Siempre this week, happy to be home. Filled with more stories than we could take in, eyes shining bright with a new passion and speaking English beautifully, it was amazing to see her again and the kids were thrilled at her return. Even better when we discovered she'll be working with Siempre's kids, (Brenda's missed her!), and the youth of the church in the years to come. God's given her a BIG vision to reach out across Tijuana in love. Welcome Home Bianca! You've been in our prayers.

indoor games... again!
Talking with a friend before leaving Riverside Wednesday morning, he asked what we do when it rains at Siempre? The mud is unbelievable. The truck sinks into it's hubs, turning at corners becomes a big event... back wheels spinning, front wheels turned... truck still going straight. Unloading all we bring takes on a whole new level of adventure. The mud... it clings to your shoes like a coat of concrete, making each step heavy, slowing everything, a very real restriction on every movement. It's hard for our workers to greet us with real enthusiasm: there's flu in the household, kids are trapped indoors and we come treading in half of TJ on our feet. I was quick to tell my friend that in weather like this Debi and Lynn will be the play makers. They'd brought a cake and gifts for Neftali's birthday- he's 13. Plus Lynn had brought clothes to hand out and Debi had new Easter dresses for all the girls. Unbelievably, Easter's just a month away. Laughing on the phone, I said, they'll be busy with the kids and some big issue will be awaiting me, was it ever! The kind of family stuff one can only expect after long days of rain, boredom and everyone being sick and tired... but multiply it by over 30 people in the household and it's more than enough to work with. Thankful Siempre's not in Seattle!
Easter Dresses
Easter dresses are an important part of getting ready for the big day for each of our girls. Every year Debi spends time shopping with the girls of Siempre in mind and we have the best photos of each Easter and "our" girls growing up together in their matching dresses. Debi, Lynn, Aracelys, Brenda and Bianca spent time dressing each girl, finding the right size and then taking some fun pictures to share and save. Looking at these girls smiling I often wonder where they'd be without the promise of Siempre, without your support, without the wonderful love of women like Debi, Lynn and of course each of our loving workers. God's blessed us with the opportunity to share the joy of life with these kids and give them home in a world they've found so much heart break in. Hope your preparations for Easter are going well. That you've found a new shirt or dress. When you consider the promise of Easter, remember how it's promise is being lived out every day at Siempre Para Los Ninos and keep us in your prayers. Each of these girls needs your loving support as they grow through the seasons of life.
Neftali and Pastor Israel
We continue to build because we could never keep pace with the challenges faced by children abandoned in Tijuana... much less broken families and orphaned children around the world. Every good work is one more piece of the puzzle that can restore hope in young hearts, protect lives, extend The Promise of Life to those who're certain they've been left behind to fight for their own survival. God didn't give us children to cast into the political process and hope that someone else takes care of them. Jesus made it really clear that it's our job to take care of kids and that the price to pay is huge for those who fail even one of His little ones... and so we build. Memorial Day Weekend we'll extend our work, building on property adjoining our current campus, with room enough to house work camps from around the world for years to come. We want to make sure that everyone who has a heart for helping children has the opportunity to share the work. That every church that'd like to be part of the promise of Siempre can step up and live out God's plan and purpose through them. That's Neftali, celebrating his 13th birthday, standing with Pastor Israel- my prayer is that Siempre will be there to see Neftali through to adulthood. That when Neftali is married, it might be in our little church and Pastor Israel will officiate, that the next generation of supporters for our work, the solution for the challenges faced in border communities are growing up in the promise of Siempre today. Children who know what it is to be abandoned, to be rescued into the love and wealth of Siempre, who grow up to reach out to children around the world... and so we build. It's not our future I'm worried about, I know who holds tomorrow, it's the children living in poverty, abandoned and alone, I long to serve. They're why we build. It's cold, wet, raining in Tijuana. The 27 children of Siempre are doing fine. Thousands of children are fighting the flu, without a blanket, barely protected, hungry and afraid, all across Tijuana... they're why we build. Hundreds of millions more fight for survival around the world... they're why we build. They all deserve a birthday party, to see thirteen years old, to believe in a future and a hope, to know a pastor, a family who cares... they're why we build. Looking at the smile on Neftali's face, remembering his first day with us, I wonder why some are not building? The challenge is big enough to require the best from each of us. The reward is great enough to give our lives to completely. Neftali... and so many more like him... they're why we build.

Siempre's Second Annual Golf Tournament! Saturday, April 26th, Mark the Date! Why we build pulls at our hearts... HOW we build, HOW we'll pay for it, requires our financial support. Our first golf outing, last year, was a huge success and raised over $15,000-. We want to do more to meet the needs of Siempre's kids this year. If you golf- sign up and play. It's best ball and that guarantees a good time for all. If you like silent auctions and an evening out- we're doing that also. If you or your company would like to be a tee sponsor- we can get you in. If you'd like to donate time in a time share, that old classic car, a great vacation, your professional services... call me at 951-907- 9100... and I'll hook you up with the people putting it all together. It's going to be a great day, for a great cause. Life happens fast. Easter's one month off. The golf tourney just two months away. And each of the children of Siempre are growing up so quickly... don't miss a minute of it. We're going this Wednesday afternoon. You're invited. You're needed. Now, more than ever.

siempre,
