American Idol raised more than that in
one night. It was fun to watch and great to see kids
living in poverty around the world get so much media
attention. Little Juan Daniel, pictured, Siempre's
youngest and newest resident, will never see a dime
of it. Daniel came in with infections in his stomach,
eyes, mouth... everywhere. He's spent his first days
with us very sick and back and forth to the doctor.
Makes one wonder how long he's been sick. How
long he was denied medical care because of poverty.
We don't know much about his background but we
know the hopes and dreams we have for his future.
They're filled with love, hope, purpose, safety, a great
education and the invitation to live out dreams and
goals God puts in his heart. If all goes as planned, I'll
be retired long before little Juan Daniel even
graduates from high school, much less begins to
enter adult life. The opportunity I have to invest in his
life depends on the investment I make in the long term
success of Siempre Para Los Ninos and her
leadership.
30 Million Dollars sounds like science fiction
to most of us when we consider our own finances. I'm
not sure I even KNOW anyone worth 30 million
dollars, maybe, but I'm not sure. However, each of us
is worth enough to help insure the safety of Juan
Daniel's life for the next 16 years. Some of us could
easily write a check for $30,000-, and we need to,
Siempre is a promise to children in poverty that
depends on you and me. We're not looking for help
from American Idol. Many more of us could make a
gift of $3,000-, $300-, $30- or even $3, we all can do
our part. People always tell me they want to help. I
get calls from folks after these emails saying, "How
can I help?" As we prepare to build our biggest
project ever, Memorial Day Weekend, you can help by
giving generously. It will benefit the children living in
Siempre Para Los Ninos today and all the
children who will live there for years to come. It will
help Juan Daniel. We're building a doctor's office. He
needs it!
